In the project highlighted here, Wilke Enginuity Inc. was hired by a customer in the food industry to manufacture a custom crab mallet. Food grade 316 stainless steel was chosen for ensured durability, ease of sanitation, and temperature resistance. Our advanced equipment including a CNC milling center and a CNC lathe was employed for the precision milling, turning, and laser engraving processes necessary to meet the specified contours. Specifically, the handle and knife components were machined. Customer-supplied purple heart wood was incorporated into the part. Although this material is valued for its hardness, rich color, and water resistant qualities, it is a difficult material to work with. Our experts were able to successfully integrate this wood into the component with a flawless execution. Our uncompromising quality control procedures were implemented throughout fabrication to ensure part integrity and accuracy.

Measurement of the finished mallet was 6″ in length. Turnaround time for this project was 4 weeks, manufacturing 500 units and shipping to the customer in Glen Rock, Pennsylvania.
